The fighter with the most points of the weight division will be listed as Number 1.
However with so many Age/Weight divisions there would be far too many lists to compile. We appreciate this is unfair to all the individual age groups to only recognise the weight group. So we have 1 weight group for all ages as the season progresses.
Each weight division will list both the Age of the athlete and there Age Division.
Then once the season has finished all the athletes who are No1 of their Actual Age/Weight & Gender are all identified as World Grand Prix Grand Champions.
Summary of scoring criteria to win each round:
All Ringsports and Tatami Based Continuous Rules are scored on the 10 point must system.
Light Contact Rules 10/9 in favour of the winner.
All Rules which can win by stoppage of KO:
-
10/9 In favour of winner most shots landed
-
10/8 In favour of winner if one 8 count given in the round
-
10/7 In favour of winner if two 8 counts given in the round
-
KO or TKO if stoppage
Key scoring elements per style, what are the judges looking for?
Tatami Sports Scoring:
Pointfighting (all styles):
Punch to Head or body = 1 Point
Kick to body = 2 Points
Kick to Head = 3 Points
Jump Kick to body = 3 Points
Jump Kick to head = 5 Points
Sweep, Punch to body of downed fighter = 2 points if score within 3 seconds.
To award any of the above scoring values, at least two of the three judges (a majority) must agree that the technique has scored.
If judges agree that a competitor has landed a scoring technique but disagree on whether it was a punch or a kick, the competitor will still be awarded points. In such cases, the lower of the two possible scoring values will be awarded, as the type of technique cannot be confirmed with certainty.
This ensures the benefit of the successful attack is recognised while maintaining fairness and consistency in scoring.
